One of our collective favourite games to play over a laden table is Death Row Dinner – the rules follow in Rebecca’s contribution to this newsletter. This edition of Marigold marks our 6 month anniversary as something public, a whole 12 issues. In honour we thought we’d celebrate in the only way we know how – by making a combined version of our Death Row Dinner. We would have loved to have had you all round to ours so we could ply you with seafood and booze, but unfortunately that’s not happening any time soon, so this menu seems the next best thing.
We’ve also given it a French twist in honour of Emily making the jump over the channel next week and relocating to Brittany. We will miss her dearly but are already salivating at all the delights soon to be explored – I vote for a textural eulogy on frogs legs soon.
Thanks for sticking with us. We have loved the last 6 months and hope you have too. Special shout outs to everyone who’s written, drawn, photographed, posed, corrected or just been moral support along the way. This week we’ve dedicated the links section to them all.
Love The Marigolds
PLEASE BE SEATED FOR OUR 6 MONTH EXQUISITE CORPSE PARTY MENU, A FRENCH SEAFOOD FANTASY…
THANKS FOR COMING, HERE’S TO ANOTHER 6 MONTHS!
WE’VE LOVED SEEING YOU COOK OUR RECIPES AND WHERE YOU’VE PUT YOUR MARIGOLD STICKERS, CATCH US ON THE GRAM @CLUBMARIGOLD AND TELL US WHAT YOU’VE BEEN COOKING/EATING IN AUTUMN. BELOW ARE SOME LINKS TO MARIGOLD’S PALS XX
Meshach Falconer Roberts Meshach blessed us with a jerk recipe to end all others. The man is gifted with a camera (see link) and in the kitchen. We hope to get him back to write about some of his other passions, we’ve discussed Mezcal and sushi. We think he makes the best spicy beans and we want the recipe.
Ibrahim Mukhayer In our third issue Ibrahim shared his recipe for Fuul. As the autumn nights draw in this dish is the perfect cosy accompaniment to a cold evening. He has recently moved to Marseille we wish him the best of luck!
Sophie Williams Sophie allowed us to share some beautiful pictures of their Nonno in our summer Sicilian edition. They have a sumptuous eye for colour and light, check out more of their work in the link above.
Luke Humphries Luke drew some crooked looking whiskey bottle guys for our Michelin man story. He’s currently working on a piece for us about the rise of the Desi pub scene in the Midlands.
BJ Mcneill Goddess of grape and body. Hopefully Beej will come back and review some reds for the winter months, we throughly enjoyed tasting pink drinks with them in the summer.
Joe Kirton Last but not least, big props to Joe for his wolf and green children drawing. He’s currently making a pizza oven in his back garden surrounded by an assortment of fowl, check him out.
We’re always open to your words/recipe/images, or just nice hellos send them over to: the.club.marigold@gmail.com
